February - July 2022
  • Planning meetings for church remodel and west parking lot
October 2022
  • Construction started on remodeling of office space, kitchen, and volunteer room.
  • During the review process for the west parking lot, the city required the installation of a block wall to prevent lights from shining onto McDowell (estimated cost: $132,300) and wrought iron fencing along 26th Place (estimated cost: $25,788).
  • Additionally, a trash enclosure area and a possible new bus stop were requested. Cost of asphalt skyrocketed. West Parking Lot cost jumped to $1,487,643 from original estimate in May 2022 of $315,066.
  • Preapplication Meeting for children’s addition and west parking lot
  • Original estimate start date for construction of west parking lot.
November 2022
  • Had a planning review meeting with the city to discuss both the children's addition and the west parking lot.
  • Filed a variance request for the setback requirements along McDowell and 26th Place for the new children's addition and landscaping.
  • For the west parking lot, the city approved a variance request to allow shrubs instead of a block wall to block head lights.
January 2023
  • Remodeling of office space, kitchen, and volunteer room re-started
  • Variances for children’s extension approved
February 2023
  • Zoning adjustment hearing with the City
  • Original estimate finish date for construction of west parking lot.
March 2023
  • Remodeling of office space, kitchen, and volunteer room completed
  • City meeting regarding follow-up to children’s addition and west parking lot
May 2023
  • Zoning adjustment hearing with the City
June 2023
  • City meeting regarding follow-up to children’s addition and west parking lot
July 2023
  • Received approval to submit the building plans for the children’s addition and get final approval to start construction. The delays were due to the back-and-forth process for variance requests and ongoing changes to the design, such as adjustments to the bathrooms and other areas.

    • Once submitted, we should get permits within 2-3 weeks, under normal circumstances.
  • City did not approve the west parking lot. Now stated the lot needed to be re-zoned as a “parking district”, even though we had already received approval for the zoning when we initially submitted the plans.
October 2023
  • Building plans for the children's area expansion were approved by the city of Phoenix.
  • Decided to delay construction of west parking lot
April 2024
  • Expansion of the children's area resumed with an estimated completion date of Q4 2024.
July 2024
  • During the site plan review the Phoenix Fire Marshall required FCC to install new fire sprinklers throughout the current children's area and the new extension. We filed an appeal.
September 2024
  • Received the results of the fire sprinkler appeal below which stated that we do not have to add fire sprinklers in the existing building, however, we do have to add them in the new building.  This now requires the addition of a fire line and fire riser to the new addition, that was not originally planned for or thought would be needed. ADM’s civil engineer had to now draw up fire line drawings to be submitted to the city for approval once completed. The original plan/thought was to tie into the existing sprinkler system in FCC Kidz and just install new sprinkler heads in the new addition.
October 2024
  • Received $26,000 change order from planning and design for new private fire line that Includes Topographic Survey, and Utility Potholing of existing utilities.
November 2024
  • After a couple rounds of submissions, comments from the city and resubmissions, the grading and drainage, followed by the landscape plans were approved.
December 2024
  • Construction permits for children’s addition submitted.
January 2025
  • Fire line drawings completed and submitted to the city for approval.
  • Received almost $200,000 change order for the installation of the approved fire line drawings due to the city requiring us to tap into the 12” main water line located across McDowell St, versus the 6” line already located on our side.
  • We notified the team that we would like to start construction as soon as the construction permits are received while we work on a potential appeal to the 12” water line ruling.

FAQ

Can I give even if it's less than the $10,000?
Yes, absolutely! While we are believing for 1,200 people to give $10,000 each, every gift matters. Whether it's $10 or $10,000, your generosity contributes to the vision. It's not about equal giving—it’s about equal sacrifice and faith. Together, we’re trusting God for miracles of every size.
Do I need to have the full $10,000 before I start giving?
Not at all. You can begin giving right away—whatever amount you have. This isn’t about having it all up front. It’s about starting the journey in faith and trusting God to provide the rest. Every step of obedience counts.
When do I get to volunteer for CTS?
Great question! Volunteer opportunities will open up as we move through different phases of the building process. When it’s time, we’ll reach out based on your availability and areas of interest. Make sure your volunteer interest is submitted so we can keep you in the loop.
